VW Beetle Restoration

The fondest memories of this 'Love Bug' include -
  1. The Christmas Eve! On our way back after midnight mass when it decided to stall due to a dysfunctional battery. Thank God for the good Samaritans who helped us get it running again.
  2. The Horn! Which decided blow on its own, while on the go of course!
  3. The Fire! yes, the engine caught fire once; a rather common occurrence in VW Beetles I'm told.
  4. The Party! I'm all dressed up en route to a 16th b'day bash when it decides to stall for no apparent reason. So here we are, trying to move it out of the way when a truck driver yells "wikunala daanawa oya dakkuwa!" (Sell that piece of junk)
But no amount of persuasion would convince my father to sell this little gem which has a mind of it's own. So after two years of neglect, the yellow bug begins to under go restoration to it's former glory. Follow me for updates on it's progress.

It’s sad to see “yellow bug” in this state but looking forward to the end result.

Somae needs a kick on the bum for taking so long on this.

I too was a proud user of a slightly better maintained yellow bug during my younger days. Your post brings back a lot of memories. This might even inspire me to write a few of my own bug stories.

I'll surely follow the restoration with interest.

This one made me remember my first car. It was a blue 1963 Ford Galaxy 500 with three speed on the column. Mom had me drive it to town while learning to drive it. I popped the clutch and killed it in the middle of the busiest intersection. I finally learned how to work that clutch though.

Good luck with you Yellow Love Bug. Keep us posted.
